DATA: HUMAN FOOTPRINT V2 2007 (SEDAC)
[Status: Available at TerraViva! GeoServer.]

Human influence is a global driver of ecological processes on the planet, on par with climatic trends, geological forces, and astronomical variations. The Wildlife Conservation Society and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network at Columbia University teamed up to systematically map and measure the human influence on the Earth’s land surface. Together they produced their first human footprint data collection, released by the Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC) in 2002. Now version 2, with updated input layers and other improvements, is ready for release.

Human Footprint V2, Last of the Wild: Biomes, Last of the Wild: Ecoregions, Human Influence Index, and related datasets are available at TerraViva! GeoServer (search "SEDAC"). Additional data is available at SEDAC.
